Coming Soon to Support You: Community Consultants in Parenting
Fourteen local parents attended an awards ceremony on 3rd March to celebrate their completion of an intensive course in Community Consultancy.
Counsellor Julia Fletcher, Chair of Lewisham Council's Children and Young People's Panel, praised the new consultants for their enthusiasm and commitment and spoke of the exciting opportunity they represent for Lewisham's communities.
The accredited course, run by Parenting UK, focused on developing skills in mentoring, counselling, advice, communications and training others.
The consultants bring a wide range of expertise to their roles, including support for young carers, parents of children with special educational needs, GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) parents and those suffering domestic abuse.
