Family Learning Programme Rolled Out To Other Schools.
3rd February 2010: ATP-UK, in partnership with South London Tamil Welfare Group (SLTWG), started the Family Learning Programme at Rushey Green Primary School in Catford. This programme is helping us to give skills and confidence to the parents, who are, in turn, able to help their children educationally and developmentally. We would like to thank the school management for inviting us to provide this valuable support for our families.
But what happens to the pupils and parents when we finish the Family Learning Programme?
Building on the good relationship ATP-UK and SLTWG has formed with Sandurst School, after the completion of the Family Learning Programme last July, the school generously offered their Tamil pupil’s parents a 6 week course on numeracy; a course designed to equip them with the necessary skills to be able to help their children with their mathematics assignments. This was followed by a further 6 week course on literacy. On the 3rd February, a 15 week course on Financial Management was started. Our collaborative roll in all of these activities has been to provide free translation for the school and parents, as well as offering other support, such as publicity leaflets etc.
