‘Family Relationship’ Workshops

ATP-UK invited Mr. S. J. Yogarajah to help us with our work with families and children: he kindly accepted our invitation, and volunteered his valuable time so as to share his experience and knowledge with us in order to help build Family unity and spirituality among the Tamil community in the UK.

Mr. Yogarajah participated in many seminars organised by us; in some places in collaboration with other charitable organisations. He talked to groups of young parents at children’s centres in the London Boroughs of Mitcham, Merton and Croydon: he also attended seminars and talked to groups of elders in the London Boroughs of Lewisham, Wandsworth and Merton.

In addition to the above, he facilitated two training sessions on the topic of introduction to counselling.

Furthermore, in addition to his already packed schedule, he was invited to a training event at Goldsmith College University to talk on the techniques of teaching Tamil as a second language.  He also conducted a training session on the above subject, for a group of Tamil teachers, at Selhurst Boys School, Croydon.

He spent a lot of time providing culturally sensitive counselling to individuals and families, an area which is very much under resourced to meet the needs of the Tamil community in London.

Due to popular demand, he appeared in a live programme on Deepam television channel, on the 4th November 2008 to conduct a question and answer session on Family relationships.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Yogarajah for his generous support and valuable contribution to the Tamil Community in Britain as well as to our organisation.
